Mississippi Flyway Birding Festival Field Trip

Reno Bottoms Area Canoe/Kayak Field Trip

Paddlers will explore and learn about the dynamics of the Mississippi River and its backwaters. Likely sightings include migrating waterfowl, shorebirds, raptors (including Bald Eagles and Osprey), Black Terns, American White Pelicans, Yellow-headed Blackbirds and warblers (including Yellow-rumped, American Redstarts and Prothonotary). Expect to paddle about 6 miles.

Day & Time:    Saturday morning at 7:00am - 11:00am.

Directions:

Cross the Mississippi River to La Crescent. Take Highway 16 south out of La Crescent to the intersection with Highway 26. Turn south (left) on 26 and drive about 12 miles to Reno. We will meet there at a place to be announced and proceed to the put-in site. This trip is dependent on water levels. Watch for additional information at the Friday sessions.
